Having just returned from a fantastic trip to New Zealand in February I was keen to share my latest exciting wine discoveries. Joined live onscreen by six wine producers live from NZ, this webinar tasting provided a great snapshot of the premium New Zealand wine scene. It reflected much of what I discovered on my thrilling very recent trip to the country – refined, elegant sauvignon blancs that increasingly reflect sub-regional terroirs; world-class chardonnay from Nelson; gorgeous aromatic gewurztraminer that prompted an inspiring discussion about food matching; precise pinot from a handpicked set of Marlborough’s best vineyards and a beautifully made complex syrah from Hawke’s Bay. And we had plenty of updates on NZ’s eco-conscious viticulture and winemaking methods. Huge thanks to the New Zealanders for sharing their stories and to the guests for a lively chat-room – I could not have enjoyed it more!
